Aston Martin AMR1 wins Group C race

The Group C season opening race at Donington 5/6 May saw the Damax run Aston Martin AMR1 of Paul Whight win the Group C race driven by Andy Meyrick. Qualifying was damp and as this was the first time we had run the car we used this period to try different suspension settings and ended up second on the grid. Andy took the race lead at the first corner and was only headed during the pit stop phase of the 1 hr race. We took a hard fought win with Mike Donovan in a Spice finishing 2nd and Rupert Clevely/Bob Berridge in a Lancia 3rd. Damax would like to say a big thank you to Paul Whight, the owner of the car, for trusting us to produce a reliable race winning car.

Group C / Helen & Douglas Charity Dinner

Damax would like to say a big thank you to Graham and Odette for organising this wonderful evening of reminiscence and fundraising on behalf of the Helen & Douglas Hospice. A good evening was had by all and it was nice to see many old faces and raise some money for this worthy charity.

Damax are pleased to announce that they will be running an Aston Martin AMR1 and a Lancia LC2 alongside the Spice Group C cars in the prestigious and fast expanding Group C Championship. The iconic Martini liveried Lancia, with 800hp, will be driven by Duncan & Robin in selected events. The Aston Martin AMR1 owned and driven by Paul Whight, will contest races at Donington and Le Mans. We are looking forward to what we hope will be another successful year.

2011 Group C Championship C2 Eau Rouge Cup runners up

2011 saw Robin Ward finishing 2nd in the Group C C2 Championship driving Duncan McKay's Spice C2 car, closely followed by Duncan in 3rd place (although sharing the Spice for the season Silverstone saw Robin and Duncan driving different cars). With podium finishes at every race meeting we had a competitive year and would like to congratulate Peter & Andy Meyrick on winning the C2 Championship. Robin would like to thank Duncan for the privilege of driving his cars once again.

Class win for Cooper Formula Junior at HSCC Season Opener

The HSCC Historic race meeting season opener at Donington on 20 March, saw the Damax prepared and run Formula Junior Cooper T56 achieve a class win (10th overall) in the hands of driver Crispian Besley. After a successful first outing we are looking forward to Cadwell Park on April 25th.

Damax have relocated to new premises at Poundon and now offer secure storage facilities.

Along with our historic motorsport activities, we are now able to offer secure car storage and transportation. We have a dedicated storage area in a new building alongside our workshops.

Surtees F2

After a speedy rebuild, Damax ran a Surtees F2 driven by Crispian Besley in the Walter Hayes All-Comers Race. This was a pre-cursor for 2011 when we shall be competing in the Historic F2 Championship and Formula Junior Championship.

These single-seater race cars compliment our Group C and historic touring car programs.

Top Endurance Team

After a successful season in Group C historic, Damax have been awarded the title of Top Endurance Team'.

Duncan McKay and Robin Ward took 1st place in Duncan's Spice SE88 C2 car.

They took class wins and podiums throughout the season in what turned out to be the most reliable car in the field. 2nd place went to Larry Kinch in a car rebuilt by Damax.

Robin Ward would like to thank Duncan for supporting his team and allowing him to drive his car.

Damax is looking forward to 2011 and will be running three Spice cars.

Gp C Podium at Le Mans

Another great result for the Damax cars at Le Mans .... Class 1, 2, 3 (Mike Furness (Spice), Duncan McKay (Spice) and Robin Ward (ADA Gebhardt) with Robin also taking the fastest lap in class.

Group C Spa 21-23 May 2010

The team had a fabulous weekend at Spa with some good racing and equally good weather! Damax were running the two Spices of McKay and Furness, both co-driven by Robin Ward. With the Furness Buick Spice rebuild only just complete, this was the first track outing for the car and Race 1 was an opportunity to iron out some gremlins, but at the expense of not finishing the race. With Robin stranded out on track McKay was left to drive the whole 1 hr race to finish 2nd in class and 8th overall, the car performing faultlessly throughout. Race 2 saw McKay/Ward take 1st in class and 3rd overall but this was later re-classified to 5th overall due to a pit stop outside the permitted window, attributable to a comms error on Robin's radio. This did not affect the class win and with the Furness car taking the class 3rd it was an impressive finish to the weekend.
